Chapter 10 - Dawn Over the HorizonThree months later.

The morning sun washed over the grand terrace of the Vargas estate—now fully restored, cleaned, and legally returned to its rightful owner.

Elena stood by the balcony railing, dressed in a sharp, elegant white suit, looking out over the manicured gardens where her stepmother, Isabel, now sat in a high-security federal penitentiary awaiting trial alongside Ambrose and the surviving members of the syndicate.

The nightmare was over. The debt had been paid in blood and truth.

Footsteps approached softly behind her. A familiar, expensive scent of cedar and quiet luxury wrapped around her shoulders as a heavy wool coat was gently draped over her back.

Elena turned her head with a small smile.

Matthew stood beside her, leaning against the stone balustrade, his hands tucked neatly into his pockets, looking out at the rising sun.

— The board meeting is in an hour, Matthew said, his dark eyes softening as he looked down at her. — As the majority shareholder of Vargas Industries, you’re expected to chair it.

Elena touched the silver signet ring hanging securely on the chain around her neck, then looked up at him.

— I think I can handle a few corrupt executives after surviving a rainy night in a black car, she teased, a genuine, radiant smile finally touching her lips.

Matthew chuckled, reaching out to gently brush a stray strand of hair from her face.

— You didn't just survive that night, Elena, Matthew whispered, his voice warm and steady. — You changed the entire board game.

Elena leaned into his touch, watching the golden light break fully over the horizon, knowing that whatever came next, she was no longer running from the shadows. She owned them.
