Chapter 9 - The Final StandSmoke billowed through the ruined vault, obscuring the figures of half a dozen armed mercenaries pouring through the smoking breach.

Matthew pushed Elena behind the thickest concrete pillar, stepping out into the open with his weapon raised. He moved like a ghost through the haze, taking down the first two operatives with pinpoint accuracy before diving behind a mahogany desk as heavy return fire chewed through the wood.
— Give us the ledger, Carranza! a harsh, distorted voice echoed through a tactical comms unit from the doorway.
Out from the smoke stepped Mr. Ambrose himself—older, greying, dressed in an immaculate Italian suit that looked entirely out of place amid the carnage. Behind him stood Director Vance, holding a secondary detonator in his hand.
— It's over, Matthew, Ambrose sneered, walking slowly into the center of the vault, his eyes gleaming with malicious triumph. — Arthur Vargas is dead. His company is ours. And this little runaway girl is about to sign over the final shares.
Elena stepped out from behind the pillar, her chin held high, her eyes blazing with cold fury.
— You killed my father, Ambrose, Elena said, her voice echoing clearly off the stone walls. — And you thought you could bury the truth forever.
Ambrose laughed, a cold, dry sound.
— My dear girl, the world doesn't run on justice. It runs on power and ink. Sign the transfer papers Vance is holding, and maybe—just maybe—we’ll let your little billionaire friend walk out of here alive.
Matthew slowly rose from behind the desk, his shoulder bleeding slightly from a graze wound, his expression completely unreadable. He looked at Ambrose, then at Vance, and finally let out a slow, chilling chuckle.
— You really think I came to Zurich unprepared, Ambrose? Matthew asked softly.
Ambrose frowned. — What are you talking about?
Matthew raised his left hand, pressing a single button on his encrypted satellite phone.
Instantly, the secure monitors mounted on the exterior walls of the bank vault—linked directly to the Swiss Federal Financial Authority and Interpol—flickered to life. On the screens, live data streams began broadcasting every single offshore account, wire transfer, and illegal transaction tied to Ambrose, Vance, and the syndicate across three continents.
Ambrose’s face drained of all color. — No... that’s impossible! We encrypted those servers!
— You forgot one simple thing, Matthew said, stepping forward as the distant wail of police sirens began to echo down the cobblestone streets above. — Arthur Vargas wasn't just an engineer. He was a pioneer in encryption. And before he died, he left a backdoor straight into your primary mainframe.
Director Vance panicked, raising his weapon toward Elena. — I’ll kill her! I’ll—
Before Vance could pull the trigger, a sharp, silenced crack echoed through the vault.
Vance froze, his eyes widening in shock as a clean round passed through his chest. He dropped his weapon, collapsing onto the cold stone floor beside the shattered deposit boxes.

Sniper lasers cut through the smoke from the upper maintenance conduit above. Carranza’s elite tactical backup had finally breached the building from the roof.
Within seconds, the remaining mercenaries dropped their weapons, raising their hands as federal agents swarmed into the vault, pinning Ambrose to the floor in a flurry of handcuffs and shouting commands.
