Chapter 11 - THE SHADOW WARRIORS“High Command deployed the Flame Corps... but you cannot burn what lives in darkness.”Recognizing the existential threat, General Harrison activated Operation Hellfire—deploying the military's elite Flame Corps. Dozens of heavily armored soldiers armed with liquid-napalm throwers advanced into the subterranean tunnels, turning the dark caverns into raging infernos of 2,000-degree heat.

“Burn them all!” Harrison roared through the tactical comms. “Purge the nest!”

Streams of blinding orange fire devoured the tunnels, incinerating hundreds of serpents in seconds. The flames roared toward Alex, engulfing him in a pillar of blazing heat.

Vance Jr. laughed hysterically through his respirator. “Look at your god now! He burns like trash!”

But as the flames slowly settled, the air filled with a sweet, sickening aroma. The burning venom didn't destroy the swarm—it vaporized into a dense, airborne neuro-gas.

Inside their sealed tactical helmets, the Flame Corps soldiers began to gasp. The airborne venom ate through rubber seals, melted glass viewports, and seeped directly into their oxygen tanks. One by one, the elite soldiers dropped their weapons, clawing at their throats as terrifying hallucinations took hold.

Through the clearing smoke walked Alex, unburnt, surrounded by a swirling aura of black fire. The mutated scales on his skin had crystallized into an impenetrable thermal shield.

“Fire created life,” Alex said coldly, raising his hand. “Did you really think it would destroy us?”
