Chapter 14 - THE FALL OF SECTOR ZEROâAn entire army crumbled... in less than ten minutes.âWhat followed was not a battle; it was absolute retribution.

The ancient serpent swarm swept through Sector Zero like an unstoppable dark tide. Tank turrets were ripped off by giant constrictors; attack helicopters were plucked out of the sky by giant pit vipers springing from the tree line.
Inside the central command center, General Harrison locked himself behind three-foot-thick titanium blast doors, frantically pressing the emergency self-destruct button for the entire base.
âCountdown initiated: 60 seconds to tactical nuclear detonation,â the automated voice announced.
Harrison slumped into his chair, sweating profusely, pouring himself a glass of whiskey. âIf I go to hell... Iâm taking you with me, beast.â
THUD.
A single clawed hand punched cleanly through the three-foot titanium blast door, ripping it off its hydraulic hinges like wet paper.
Alex stepped into the room, surrounded by an absolute silence. Behind him, the nuclear countdown timer reached zeroâbut nothing exploded. The internal wiring of the warhead had been completely devoured by millions of tiny, micro-cobras that had infiltrated the control panels hours ago.
General Harrison dropped his glass. It shattered on the floor.

Alex walked over, leaning down until his glowing yellow eyes were inches from Harrisonâs face.
âYour timer has expired, General,â Alex whispered.
