Chapter 12 - THE MOTHER’S SACRIFICE“A mother’s love isn't always human... sometimes it bleeds venom.”Driven by sheer desperation and vengeance, Vance Jr. unveiled the military’s ultimate secret weapon: an orbital sonic cannon code-named “THUNDERBOLT.”

Mounted on an armored crawler, the cannon discharged a massive, focused pulse of high-frequency sound waves aimed directly at Alex. The sonic shockwave shattered concrete walls and tore through the air at Mach 5.

The frequency was specifically engineered to shatter the delicate internal ear structures of reptiles and disrupt Alex’s neural control over the swarm.

Alex fell to his knees, clutching his head as blood streamed from his ears. The agonizing sound fractured his mind, severing his link to the hive. Deprived of their alpha's command, the surrounding cobras began thrashing in agony, biting themselves and turning on one another in chaotic madness.

“I have you now!” Vance Jr. screamed, adjusting the cannon to full capacity for a lethal strike. “Die like the animal you are!”

As the cannon charged its final, fatal blast, a colossal shadow fell over the crawler.

The Mother Cobra—the original giant matriarch that Alex had fed as a small hatchling—slid between Alex and the deadly beam. The sonic blast hit her full force. Her thick armored scales ruptured, and her massive hood split open, but she refused to retreat.

Using the last of her immense strength, the Mother Cobra wrapped her giant body around the cannon, crushing the steel turret like an aluminum can before crashing down in front of Alex, shielding him with her dying body.
