Chapter 3 - THE MARK OF THE TREASONâA barrel aimed at his forehead... and a swarm ready to strike.ââDonât move, you traitorous bastard!â

Alex spun around to see Private Millerâthe campâs radio operatorâclimbing down from the emergency bunker, his rifle shaking violently as he aimed it straight at Alexâs chest. Millerâs face was pale, his uniform drenched in cold sweat.
âMiller! Wait! Itâs not what you think!â Alex raised his hands, pleading.
âI saw you!â Miller screamed, tears streaking through the dirt on his cheeks. âI saw you feeding them every night! You brought them here! You unleashed these monsters on us! You murdered the whole unit!â
Before Alex could explain, a low, menacing hiss filled the clearing.
From the shadows, from under the military trucks, and from the tall grass, dozens of hood-flared cobras emerged. The giant mother cobra slid silently up behind Alex, her golden eyes fixed on Miller. She raised her body high, echoing Alexâs posture like an undead bodyguard.
âShoot him!â Miller sobbed, squeezing the trigger.
