Chapter 5 - The Symphony of ViolenceViktor didn't hesitate anymore. He pulled the trigger.

The silenced pistol coughed a muffled report, the bullet slicing through the air where Marin’s head had been a millisecond before.
By the time the bullet struck the concrete pillar behind her, Marin had already closed the distance. She moved not with human speed, but with the terrifying fluidity of a striking viper.
Her palm struck the underside of Viktor’s rifle barrel, deflecting the second shot upward into the concrete ceiling. With a lightning-fast pivot, she swept his legs out from under him, sending the two-hundred-pound mercenary crashing hard onto the oil-stained floor.
The two other mercenaries rushed forward from the shadows, drawing tactical knives.
Marin didn't draw a weapon. She used her environment and their own momentum against them.
As the second mercenary lunged, she caught his wrist, twisted it past its natural breaking point with a sickening crunch, and used his body as a shield against the third attacker. A swift, devastating side kick to the third man’s chest cracked his ribs and sent him flying backward into a parked sedan, shattering the vehicle's side window.
Within twelve seconds, all three elite mercenaries lay unconscious on the concrete floor, groaning in pain.
Marin adjusted the collar of her lab coat, her breathing completely unlabored. She walked over to Viktor, who was clutching his dislocated shoulder, and crouched down beside him.
“Tell the Viper that if he ever sends amateurs to do a cleaner’s job again,” Marin whispered into his ear, “I won’t just break his crown. I’ll burn his entire kingdom to ash.”
She stood up, pulled out her phone, and dialed an anonymous number.

“Local police? Yes, this is an anonymous tip. We have three armed intruders incapacitated in the subterranean parking garage of Westbridge Memorial Hospital. Send a clean-up crew.”
She hung up and walked back toward the elevator, leaving the mercenaries in total despair.
