"Movement in Sector 2," Marcus whispered over the encrypted comms channel. "Four uninvited guests, heavily armed, moving through the grapevines using thermal-suppressing gear."
Harrison crouched behind a low stone wall near the main courtyard, his assault rifle leveled toward the treeline. "Let them get past the outer perimeter before we light them up."
The four mercenaries crept silently across the manicured lawn, moving with lethal, synchronized discipline. They approached the rear patio doors, raising their breaching charges.
"Now!" Harrison roared into his comms.
Suddenly, blinding halogen floodlights flooded the entire courtyard, turning night into day. Automated defense turrets mounted on the roof opened fire with non-lethal rubber suppression rounds, instantly disorienting the lead mercenaries.
