Chapter 18 - Brothers in ArmsBefore the mercenaries could open fire, a sharp crack echoed from the second-floor balcony.

Bang.

David, leaning over the stone railing with precision rifle scope alignment, shot the weapon right out of the lead mercenary's hands, sending sparks flying across the cobblestone pathway.

"Drop your weapons! Federal and private security have you completely surrounded!" David shouted, his voice echoing across the valley.

Realizing they were outgunned, trapped, and outmatched, the two remaining mercenaries dropped their rifles to the ground and raised their hands slowly in surrender.

Marcus rushed in with heavy zip-ties, securing the captives within seconds.

Harrison walked out from the courtyard shadows, lowering his weapon as he looked up toward the balcony where David stood holding his rifle. A slow, proud grin spread across Harrison's face.

"Nice shot," Harrison called out.

"Like I said," David replied, lowering his rifle with a confident smirk, "the past is dead."
