Chapter 25 - The Unbroken Horizon

The years ahead would bring new challenges, new expansions, and countless stories of survival from the families passing through the sanctuary doors. But the foundation we had built was unshakeable.

The cold winter morning when I stood barefoot in the kitchen, listening to my family dismiss my grief and exile me to the garage, felt like a distant memory from another lifetime. They had tried to break me, thinking my silence was weakness. Instead, they had unwittingly forced me to find an inner strength I never knew I possessed.

I walked quietly down the hallway to check on little Tristan. He was sleeping peacefully, his arms thrown out wide, breathing with the steady, rhythmic calm of a child who knew he was safe, loved, and protected.

The horizon outside was wide, clear, and glowing with the first faint light of dawn. The storm had passed, the winter was gone, and the future was entirely ours.
