Chapter 13 - The Friday TrapThe clock in the Northstar boardroom ticked steadily toward 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

The emergency board meeting was called at Viktor Sterling’s formal request, backed by a consortium of minority shareholders holding a sudden 9.2% stake in Northstar’s shipping infrastructure.
Viktor strode into the boardroom flanked by two corporate attorneys, wearing a tailored charcoal suit that screamed arrogant wealth. Behind him, walking quietly in the shadows of the doorway, was Adrian Blackwell.
Adrian expected to see panic on Camille’s face. He expected her to look cornered, vulnerable, or desperate for a compromise.
Instead, Camille sat at the head of the quartz table, sipping black coffee, looking completely serene. Next to her sat Odessa Crane and Miriam Kessler, whose expression resembled that of a cat watching a mouse wander into a glass cage.
"Good morning, Ms. Rowan," Viktor purred, taking a seat directly opposite her without an invitation. "I assume you’ve reviewed our emergency injunction. Your primary shipping subsidiary is facing an unexpected liquidity freeze due to unverified regulatory compliance risks. Unless Northstar opens its logistics ledger to our independent auditors within the hour, your stock will plummet by fifteen percent before the bell."
Silence filled the room. Viktor smiled, leaning back in anticipation of her defeat.
Camille slowly set down her coffee cup. She didn't raise her voice. She didn't look flustered. She simply nodded to Marcus Vance, who clicked a remote control, lighting up the massive wall-mounted display behind them.
"You’re right about one thing, Mr. Sterling," Camille said, her voice cutting through the silence like ice. "There is a massive liquidity freeze happening this morning. But it isn't affecting Northstar."
The display flickered on, revealing real-time financial tracking data, offshore wire transfers, and SEC subpoena logs.
Viktor’s confident smile instantly vanished. His eyes widened as he stared at the screen.
"What... what is this?" Viktor stammered, leaning forward.
"This is the paper trail of your offshore shell companies routing unverified capital through sanctioned foreign accounts," Marcus explained smoothly, stepping up to the screen. "An illegal maneuver designed to manipulate market shares—coordinated by Sterling Capital, and co-signed by an individual legally barred from holding corporate financial positions."
Marcus pointed a laser pointer directly at a signature line at the bottom of the disclosure document.
ADRIAN BLACKWELL.

Adrian’s face drained of all color. He leaped out of his chair. "That’s a forgery! I never signed off on foreign routing!"
"Your digital IP address, biometric authorization stamp, and personal encryption key say otherwise, Adrian," Miriam Kessler said coldly, sliding a federal arrest warrant across the table. "Violation of a federal non-compete order, securities fraud, and conspiracy to commit market manipulation."
