Chapter 14 - The Final ReckoningThe boardroom doors flew open, and two federal marshals stepped into the room, their dark uniforms and heavy badges gleaming under the brass pendant lights.

Adrian stumbled backward, his chair tipping over and crashing loudly onto the quartz floor. "No! This is a setup! Camille, you planned this! You lured us into this trap!"
Camille stood up slowly, smoothing down the front of her tailored charcoal jacket. She walked around the table until she stood just inches away from him. Her gaze was completely clear, devoid of anger, pity, or malice.
"You never learned, did you, Adrian?" Camille said softly, her voice carrying a terrifying, absolute calm. "You spent your whole life assuming that women who are quiet are weak, that patience is dependence, and that you could always outsmart the person who built your foundation."
"Camille, please—" Adrian choked out, a desperate tear spilling down his cheek as the marshals stepped forward and gripped his shoulders. "We were married! Ten years! Have mercy—"
"Mercy was the divorce settlement where I let you walk away with your freedom instead of sending you to prison years ago," Camille replied, her voice dropping like lead. "You brought this door down on your own head."
The marshals pulled Adrian toward the exit. He thrashed and shouted, his voice echoing down the hallway until the heavy oak doors slammed shut, cutting off his cries completely.

"Your attorneys will be hearing from mine, Mr. Sterling," Camille said, turning back to her seat. "Now, get out of my boardroom."
