Chapter 3 - The First StrikeThe 4:00 p.m. press conference broadcasted live across every major financial network in North America, turning corporate boardrooms from Wall Street to Silicon Valley upside down.

In the Blackwell & Rourke boardroom, the television was muted, but the closed captions ran like a ticker tape of doom across the screen. Sienna stood frozen by the window, her phone gripped so tightly in her hand her knuckles were bone-white.

"She can't do this," Sienna hissed, turning around with a manicured finger trembling slightly. "She’s a nobody outside of your shadow, Adrian! Call her. Threaten her with breach of non-disclosure, intellectual property theft—something! You built her career!"

Adrian didn't hear her. He was staring at the television screen, watching Camille speak with a cool, mesmerizing authority that commanded the entire auditorium. She wasn't shouting; she didn't need to. Every word she uttered was laced with lethal precision.

“For too long, the corporate landscape has rewarded men who confuse volume with vision,” Camille’s voice echoed cleanly through the boardroom speakers as someone unmuted the feed. “At Northstar Dominion, we are shifting our capital away from legacy inflated conglomerates that survive on empty rhetoric and stolen credit. Our first major restructuring initiative begins tomorrow morning with a hostile asset reclamation target: Blackwell & Rourke.”

Gasps rippled through the financial district, but the true nightmare for Adrian began when Camille’s presentation slides flashed behind her on the massive stage screen.

There, displayed in crystal-clear detail, were the internal financial audits, proprietary risk models, and hidden debt structures of Blackwell & Rourke—documents Adrian thought were securely locked in his private vault.

"She has our books," Richard whispered, his face draining of color. "Every single vulnerability we hid from the SEC... she documented every one of them years ago. She kept the receipts."

"That’s industrial espionage!" Adrian roared, finally snapping out of his paralysis. He lunged toward the television, kicking a chair out of his way. "She signed an NDA when we married! She signed employment riders!"

"An NDA doesn't cover criminal negligence or financial fraud, Adrian," a cold, sharp voice interrupted from the doorway.

They all turned. Standing in the entrance was Miriam Kessler, Camille’s attorney, accompanied by two federal marshals and a corporate restructuring officer. Miriam held a thick manila folder under her arm like a executioner's axe.

"Mr. Blackwell," Miriam said smoothly, stepping into the room without an invitation. "I’m here to serve notice. Pursuant to Section 4 of the Northstar-Blackwell merger dissolution agreement, and backed by a federal injunction granted thirty minutes ago by Judge Sterling, all corporate accounts, asset liquidations, and real estate holdings of Blackwell & Rourke are frozen pending an independent forensic audit."

Adrian stepped forward, his eyes bloodshot, his veins bulging at his temples. "You have no jurisdiction here! This is a hostile fishing expedition by a bitter, discarded ex-wife!"

"A discarded ex-wife who now owns thirty-four percent of your corporate debt, Mr. Blackwell," Miriam corrected calmly, opening the folder and sliding a single legal document across the desk. "Sign the surrender of executive authority, or watch the marshals padlock your offices before the closing bell."
