Chapter 4 - The Bombshell Press ReleaseBy 8:00 AM the following morning, the front page of the Chicago Tribune digital edition featured a headline that sent shockwaves through the Midwest financial and social circles:

BILLIONAIRE'S WIFE CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Lenora Ashford Faces Criminal Assault Charges After Scalding Waitress at Exclusive Bellamy House.
Attached to the article was a crystal-clear, twenty-second video clip pulled directly from Bellamy House's security servers. The video showed the exact moment Lenora picked up the cup of steaming coffee and hurled it directly into Marin Vale’s face. There was no audio, but the visual brutality of the act spoke volumes.
Social media exploded within minutes. The hashtag #JusticeForMarin and #AshfordAssault trended nationally on X (formerly Twitter) within two hours.
Inside the corporate offices of Ashford Global Holdings on the sixty-fifth floor of the Willis Tower, the phones were ringing off the hook. Investors were panicking. PR teams were scrambling.
And Callum Ashford was sitting calmly behind his massive glass desk, reviewing quarterly earnings reports, when his private line buzzed.
"Mr. Ashford," his executive assistant, Sarah, said, her voice tight with tension. "You have the senior partners of Sterling & Vance Law Firm on line one. They represent Mrs. Ashford."
"Put them through," Callum said.
Click.
"Callum? What the hell is going on?!" the voice of Harrison Vance boomed through the speakerphone. "Are you out of your mind? Releasing security footage of your own wife to the press? Do you have any idea what this is doing to the stock price? Ashford Global dropped four points at the opening bell!"
"It will bounce back by tomorrow, Harrison," Callum replied smoothly, spinning his fountain pen between his fingers. "The market hates uncertainty. Now that the footage is public and accountability is being established, investors know the board isn't sweeping corporate liability under the rug."
"Accountability? Callum, she’s your wife!"
"Not for much longer," Callum said coldly. "And if you called to negotiate a settlement on her behalf, save your breath. The terms are non-negotiable: Uncontested divorce, forfeiture of all claims to my primary holdings, a public apology issued by Lenora within twenty-four hours, and a settlement payout of two million dollars deposited directly into a trust fund for Marin Vale."
There was a stunned silence on the other end of the line.
"Two million dollars?! For a waitress?!" Vance sputtered. "Are you insane? Lenora will never agree to that!"
"Then she can explain her actions to a jury of twelve Chicago citizens while wearing an orange jumpsuit," Callum replied without blinking. "Tell her she has until 5:00 PM to sign the papers. Otherwise, I’m turning over the secondary footage to federal investigators."
"What secondary footage?" Vance asked, his voice dropping an octave.

Callum smiled—a cold, humorless expression. "Let's just say Lenora’s philanthropic foundation has some very creative bookkeeping practices that she didn't think anyone was auditing. Good day, Harrison."
He clicked the disconnect button before Vance could utter another word.
