Passport is ready. See you at 8.
That evening, sitting across from Callum in one of Chicago’s finest restaurants—not as an intimidated waitress, but as an equal, a partner, and a force to be reckoned with—Marin realized that the day the scalding coffee hit her face hadn't broken her life.
It had cleared away everything fake, everything toxic, and everything rotten, leaving behind space for something entirely real.
