Chapter 20 - The Ultimate Reveal & The New Legacy

Three months later.
The sun lit up the skyline of New York City on a crisp autumn morning. The Carter Foundation had completely cleared Ethan’s name after Vance provided full federal testimony exposing Victoria Carter's international crime ring. Victoria was captured attempting to cross the Swiss border and was now facing federal trial with no possibility of bail.
The Children's Heart Hospital had officially opened its new multi-million dollar wing—the Thomas & Ava Bennett Pavilion.
I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of Ethan's executive penthouse office, watching the city below. The nightmares were finally fading, replaced by a deep, unwavering peace.
Ethan walked up behind me, wrapping his warm arms around my waist, resting his chin on my shoulder.
"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Carter?" he asked gently, using the title we had officially sealed at a private city hall ceremony two weeks ago.
"I was thinking about how close I came to losing everything," I murmured, turning in his arms to wrap my hands around his neck. "And how you tore down an empire just to pull me out of the dark."
"I would burn the universe down for you, Ava," Ethan said, his thumb softly tracing my jawline before pressing a warm kiss to my lips.
I smiled, taking his hand and pressing it against my lower stomach.
Ethan froze. His eyes widened, looking down at his hand, then back up into my tear-filled, radiant eyes.
"Ava... is this...?" Ethan stammered, the powerful, fearless billionaire suddenly breathless and trembling.

"Our baby's heart is beating strong, Ethan," I whispered, tears of joy spilling over my lashes. "A real miracle, saved by the greatest man I know."
Ethan pulled me into his arms, lifting me off my feet as he laughed with pure, unbridled happiness—a sound that echoed across the city, declaring to the world that our love had not only survived the darkness, but had conquered it forever.
