Chapter 14 - The Breaking Point

"Not yet," Vincent said, leaning forward, resting his weight on his hands. "Before I plug this drive into the master console and let you all hear the voice of the man who tried to murder my bloodline, I want to see who reaches for his pocket first."
The psychological pressure in the room became suffocating. The air felt thick, charged with the static electricity of imminent violence.
For three agonizing seconds, no one moved.
Then, Dominic’s hand twitched.
With a sudden, frantic burst of adrenaline, Dominic lunged across the table, his hand diving inside his jacket toward a concealed Sig Sauer pistol, screaming, "You're not pinning this on me, you paranoid bastard!"
Before Dominic’s fingers could even wrap around the grip of his weapon, the French doors behind the dining area shattered inward.
Vincent’s elite enforcers poured into the room from every angle, weapons raised and locked squarely on the capos. Simultaneously, the heavy oak doors at the main entrance slammed shut, sealing the room off entirely.
Dominic froze, his hand trembling inside his jacket, tears of sheer panic welling in his eyes.
Viktor slowly raised his hands, shaking his head in absolute disgust. "You stupid, arrogant kid," Viktor growled at Dominic. "You actually thought you could outsmart Vincent?"
"It wasn't just Dominic," I stepped out from the shadows of the velvet drapes, holding a portable decryption tablet displaying live communication metadata. "Dominic was the muscle handling the physical drop-offs for the neurotoxin. But the financial mastermind—the one who authorized the multi-million-dollar transfers to Dr. Blake—was sitting right across from him the entire time."
Salvatore’s eyes snapped toward me, a cold, venomous hatred flaring in his gaze.
"You talk too much, nanny," Salvatore sneered, his hand sliding smoothly toward his ankle holster with terrifying speed.
Before Salvatore could clear his weapon, Vincent didn't even draw a gun. He simply picked up a heavy crystal decanter from the table and hurled it across the room with devastating force.

The crystal struck Salvatore squarely in the wrist, shattering the glass and sending the firearm clattering across the marble floor. Vincent was around the table in a blur of motion, grabbing Salvatore by the lapels of his suit and slamming him down onto the mahogany dining surface so hard the wood splintered.
"You," Vincent whispered, his voice vibrating with a terrifying, subterranean wrath that made the other capos step back in horror. "You were at my wife’s funeral. You held my hand when we buried her. And all the while, you were planning to bury my sons."
