Inside the study, Helena Vance sat by the fireplace, sipping a glass of aged scotch while reviewing the latest charitable foundation grants bearing little Leo’s name. Peace had finally settled over the ancient walls of the household.
Outside, beyond the wrought-iron security gates, a solitary black sedan idled quietly in the shadows of the tree line.
Inside the car, a shadowy figure stared through binoculars at the glowing windows of the mansion. A scarred hand gripped the steering wheel so tightly the knuckles turned white.
"Enjoy your peace while it lasts, Julian," a raspy, distorted voice whispered into the car's encrypted radio receiver. "The game isn't over yet."
