Chapter 8 - The Shadow AccountThe digital forensics team worked feverishly through the night. The executive suite looked like a war room, empty coffee cups scattered everywhere, monitors glowing with endless cascades of encrypted financial code.

Arthur stood behind the chief cybersecurity analyst, his eyes fixed on the scrolling data stream.

"Found it," the analyst breathed, tapping a final key. "Sir, look at this. There is indeed a hidden offshore trust called Vance Legacy Holdings. It holds forty percent of our liquid capital—and it’s currently set to auto-liquidate and transfer all funds to an anonymous shell corporation in Zurich within forty-eight hours."

Sarah walked over, gripping the back of Julian’s chair. "If that money leaves, the company goes bankrupt overnight. We won't even be able to pay our suppliers, let alone secure the hospital trust for the baby."

Julian’s face was carved from stone. "She planned this as a dead-man's switch. If she went down, she was going to take the entire empire with her out of pure spite."

"Is there any way to block the transfer?" Julian asked, his voice dangerously low.

"Only one," the analyst replied grimly. "The system requires a master biometric override key—a physical retinal scan and a voice signature matching the original founder, Julian Vance Senior, or an authorized direct bloodline heir with level-one clearance."

"My father passed away five years ago," Julian muttered. "His biometric profile in the vault was supposed to be archived and locked."

"It was," Arthur interjected calmly. He stepped forward, unbuttoning his vest pocket and pulling out an old-fashioned, heavy gold skeleton key. "Except for the physical vault located in the estate’s underground panic room. The master designed it before his passing precisely for catastrophic scenarios like this."
