Chapter 4 - The Golden Cage CrumblesNews travels through the elite circles of the city faster than wildfire. By sunrise, the flashing lights of news vans choked the private drive of the Vance estate. Reporters pressed against the wrought-iron gates, shouting questions into microphones as Eleanor Vance—handcuffed, hair disheveled, and wrapped in a dark trench coat to hide her designer clothes—was escorted out of her own home by federal marshals.

Inside the grand foyer, the atmosphere was thick with disbelief. The housemaids who had cowered in fear just hours before now stood in a nervous huddle, whispering among themselves.
Sarah sat on the living room sofa, wrapped in a warm cashmere blanket, a team of paramedics finishing up a thorough evaluation.
"Vitals are stable, Miss Vance," the lead paramedic announced, packing up his stethoscope with a reassuring smile. "Miraculously, you and the baby escaped with nothing more than mild shock and bruising. But I want you on strict bed rest for the next week. No stress, no sudden movements."
"Thank you," Sarah breathed, placing a gentle hand on her stomach. She looked across the room toward the hallway. "Where is Arthur?"
As if summoned by her words, the heavy oak study door clicked open. Arthur stepped out, carrying a thick, leather-bound ledger under one arm. His posture was as impeccable as ever, but his expression was grim.
"He's in the study," a low, gravelly voice echoed from the doorway.

Sarah gasped as a tall, broad-shouldered man stepped into the light. He had sharp, striking features, piercing dark eyes that mirrored the late patriarch, and an aura of absolute authority that commanded the room instantly.
It was Julian Vance Jr.—Sarah’s husband, and Eleanor’s legal stepson—who had supposedly been stranded on an overseas business trip in Zurich with all communications mysteriously blocked for the past week.
