Chapter 15 - The Hidden TrustBack at the executive headquarters, Robert was waiting for me in my private office with a stack of fragile, yellowed legal documents tied with a faded ribbon.

“Elena, you need to see this,” Robert said urgently, sliding the papers across my desk. “While auditing the subsidiary trusts associated with Evelyn’s maiden estate, we found an undisclosed secondary trust.”

I scanned the legal headings. My eyebrows furrowed. “A secondary trust? In whose name?”

“In Daniel’s name,” Robert replied grimly. “Or rather, a trust set up by his biological father just before he was murdered. A trust that Evelyn spent thirty years trying to legally dissolve and hide.”

“What does it contain?” I asked, leaning forward.

“Control of the original Sterling family land grants—properties in downtown Manhattan and upstate New York worth upwards of four hundred million dollars,” Robert explained. “And because Evelyn never successfully forged the dissolution papers before the feds froze her assets, that trust legally bypassed her entirely the moment Daniel was convicted of conspiracy.”

I stared at Robert in stunned silence. “Wait... are you saying...”

“I am saying, Elena, that Daniel—despite being a penniless inmate—is legally sitting on a multi-hundred-million-dollar real estate portfolio that the federal government cannot touch, because it was protected under an irrevocable generational clause.”

A slow, ironic smile crept across my lips. The man who had lost everything because of his greed and his mother’s crimes was accidentally sitting on a goldmine. Unless, of course, someone knew how to legally execute a corporate asset seizure.

How would I use this final legal weapon to deliver the ultimate checkmate against the Sterling name once and for all?
