Chapter 7 - The Lake Geneva SunriseThe sun had not yet crested the horizon when the black helicopter touched down on the private helipad of the Lake Geneva estate.

The estate was a fortress of glass, steel, and ancient stone perched on a jagged cliff overlooking the misty, dark waters of the lake. Armed guards patrolled the perimeter every thirty feet. Floodlights swept the dark pine forests surrounding the property.
Inside the master suite, the atmosphere was a surreal collision of high-stakes danger and opulent luxury.
Two makeup artists and a terrified bridal stylist flown in from Milan at three in the morning were frantically working around Elena. They had tried to dress her in a traditional ivory tulle gown encrusted with diamonds, but Elena had flatly refused.
“If I’m marrying a mafia boss, I’m doing it on my own terms,” she had told them.
Now, she stood before the full-length mirror wearing a custom, midnight-black velvet gown that hugged her curves with lethal elegance. A high slit revealed one slender leg, and her dark curls cascaded over her shoulders in wild, untamed waves. She wore no diamonds, only a simple silver pendant that had belonged to her father—a miniature piano key carved from bone.
The oak doors opened, and Dominic walked in.
He was dressed in a bespoke charcoal tuxedo, a black silk tie, and a white rose pinned to his lapel. When his eyes landed on her, he stopped dead in his tracks.
The breath seemed to leave his lungs.
“God help me,” Dominic whispered, walking slowly toward her across the Persian rug. “You look like an angel of death.”
“Good,” Elena said, turning to face him, her chin held high. “Because if you try to control me the way you control your syndicate, you’re going to need one.”
Dominic let out a deep, chest-shaking laugh, stepping close enough that she could feel the heat radiating from his body. He reached out, his warm fingers brushing against the silver piano-key pendant on her chest.
“I don’t want to control you, Elena,” he murmured, his voice dropping to a low, husky whisper. “I want to watch you conquer every room you enter. Now come on. The priest is waiting, and Rostov’s men are massing at the southern gate.”

Elena looked into his eyes—eyes that held the weight of a criminal empire, yet looked at her with a hunger that defied reason.
She took a deep breath, slipped her hand into his, and let him lead her out to the cliffside altar.
