The endless corridors that once echoed with cold secrets and guarded whispers now rang out with the sound of children laughing, art classes in session, and ordinary families sharing ordinary meals in rooms that finally felt alive.
Across the city, in a bright, sun-drenched townhouse with a slightly crooked porch and a thriving rooftop garden of poorly grown tomatoes, a five-year-old boy with bright curious eyes raced across the squeaky hardwood floors.
"Mom! Dad! Look what I built!" Oliver shouted, holding up a crooked tower of wooden blocks that leaned precariously to the left.
Mara knelt down beside him on the rug, laughing as she steadied the wobbly structure with one hand. "That’s an incredible design, sweetie. It has character."
