Chapter 18 - The Clean SweepBy 4:00 AM, the data download was complete.

Marcus packed the encrypted flash drive securely into a lead-lined pouch, shaking his head in disbelief as he reviewed the decrypted files on his screen. "Unbelievable, Sarah. This single drive contains enough evidence to dismantle half the international black-market syndicates operating across North America and Europe."

"Send it directly to federal cyber-command and Interpol," I instructed, wiping a smudge of engine grease from my cheek. "Make sure multiple redundant copies go out simultaneously so nobody can bury the investigation."

"Done," Marcus said, hitting enter on the laptop.

Outside the yacht’s windows, the first pale streaks of dawn began to paint the horizon over Biscayne Bay. The distant wail of federal maritime police sirens echoed across the water as the tactical units we had called finally moved in to secure the pier and take Victor Vance and his men into custody.

I walked out onto the deck of The Black Swan, breathing in the crisp, salt-laden morning air.

My designer suit was slightly wrinkled, my hands were calloused and taped, and my past had caught up with me in the most violent way possible. But as I looked out over the endless ocean, I didn't feel fear or regret.

I felt free.

The illusion of the fragile, ordinary corporate trophy wife was shattered forever. I was Sarah Davis—multibillion-dollar CEO, former Marine Corps combat instructor, and a woman who nobody would ever try to keep in line again.

Marcus stepped out onto the deck beside me, handing me a fresh cup of black coffee.

"So, Gunny," Marcus smiled, leaning against the railing. "What's next for the most dangerous CEO in America? Retirement?"

May you like

I took a slow sip of the coffee, looking out toward the open sea where the horizon stretched infinitely into the distance.

"Retirement?" I smirked, adjusting the collar of my jacket. "Marcus, my career as a billionaire philanthropist has only just begun. And if anyone thinks they can push me around... well, let's just say I still have my baseball bat."
