Chapter 10 - The Unbroken SongThe private jet climbed steadily into the crisp morning sky, leaving the grey concrete towers of Chicago far behind us. Below, Lake Michigan stretched out like a vast sheet of polished silver, reflecting the bright autumn sun.

In the leather cabin seats, Isabella rested her head against Vincent’s shoulder, fast asleep with the white swan music box clutched securely against her chest. The tiny porcelain swan sat proudly on top of the lid, no longer frozen in fear, but ready to spin the moment the brass key was turned.

Ellie sat across from them, staring out the window at the fluffy white clouds drifting past the wingtip, her gray stuffed rabbit tucked safely under her arm.

Vincent looked across the aisle at me, his eyes clear, unburdened, and entirely at peace for the first time in his life. He reached out, gently intertwining his fingers with mine.
