Chapter 18 - Morning on the TerraceThe Tuscan sun rose over the rolling hills in a brilliant display of amber and gold, burning away the morning mist that clung to the grapevines. The terrace was quiet, bathed in warmth and the gentle chirping of sparrows in the olive trees.

I sat at the wrought-iron patio table, pouring fresh coffee into porcelain cups while watching the girls chase each other across the manicured lawn. Isabella wore a bright yellow sundress, her long dark hair catching the sunlight as she spun around with her white swan music box clutched securely in her hand.
Vincent walked out onto the terrace, wearing a simple linen shirt instead of his usual heavy designer suits. The hard, dangerous edge that had defined his face for five years in Lake Forest was entirely gone, replaced by the calm, grounded demeanor of a father who had fought through hell and won.
He walked up behind me, wrapping his strong, steady arms around my shoulders and pressing a soft kiss to the top of my head.
"Coffee?" I asked softly, smiling up at him.
"Only if we drink it together," Vincent replied, pulling out the chair beside mine and sitting down.

Across the lawn, Isabella stopped running, turned toward us, and wound the brass key of her music box.
A delicate, beautiful melody drifted across the terrace, clear and unbroken, floating up toward the blue sky like a promise kept.
