Chapter 17 - The New Beginning

Back in Chicago, the lakefront mansion had undergone a complete architectural transformation. The heavy, dark furnishings chosen by Harrison during their marriage had been completely stripped away, replaced by bright, open spaces, cascading indoor greenery, and massive floor-to-ceiling windows that let the natural sunlight flood every single corner of the house.
Elena walked through the grand foyer, her heels clicking softly against the pristine marble floor where Harrison had once begged on his knees. That memory felt like a lifetime ago—a distant nightmare from a past incarnation.
Sarah walked out of the study, holding a thick leather-bound dossier.
"The foundation paperwork for the Vance Women’s Financial Independence Initiative has officially been approved by the state board," Sarah announced with a proud smile, handing the portfolio to Elena. "We already have initial funding lined up for three hundred female entrepreneurs looking to launch their own firms without relying on traditional male-dominated venture backing."
Elena opened the portfolio, running her fingers over the crisp, official mission statement. This was her true legacy. Not propping up a fragile, ungrateful husband, but building a sanctuary where other women could learn the power of financial autonomy, strength, and self-worth.

"Make sure the first wave of grants goes out by Monday," Elena instructed, her voice steady and warm. "And ensure our legal team provides comprehensive mentorship packages. I want every single one of them to know how to read their own contracts from day one."
"Consider it done," Sarah replied, smiling knowingly. "By the way, the keynote speech at the Zurich Global Economic Forum is scheduled for next Tuesday. Your private jet is fueled and ready whenever you are."
