Chapter 13 - THE WHISPERS OF BROOKLYNHook: With the immediate threat neutralized, a hidden file on Dr. Bell’s encrypted tablet reveals an even darker target: the real reason Lena’s parents were hunted.

An hour later, the crimson emergency lights had stopped flashing, replaced by the warm, amber glow of the study lamps.

Lena sat on the leather sofa, her hands wrapped around a cup of black coffee that Adrien had personally poured for her. The adrenaline was finally wearing off, leaving a deep, exhausting ache in her bones.

Adrien stood by the desk, swiping through the recovered data files extracted from Dr. Bell’s encrypted tablet.

"She wasn't working alone," Adrien said, his expression grim as he turned the screen toward Lena. "Dr. Bell was reporting to an offshore shell corporation managed by a man named Victor Vance—Julian's father."

Lena stared at the screen, her chest tightening. "The Vances... they weren't just legal counsel. They were orchestrating the entire syndicate takeover from the inside."

"Worse," Adrien added, pulling up a scanned document dated twenty-two years ago. "Your father, Nikolai Rostova, wasn't just a logistics boss. He had discovered that the syndicate leaders were laundering money through international humanitarian funds. He was going to expose them to the federal government."

Lena looked up, her hazel eyes meeting Adrien’s deep, unreadable gaze. "That's why they killed them. That's why my house burned down. It wasn't just a turf war—it was a corporate silencing."

Adrien walked over, sitting down on the edge of the coffee table directly in front of her. He gently took the coffee cup from her hands and set it aside, taking her bruised, trembling fingers in his large, warm palms.

"They thought they wiped out the bloodline," Adrien said softly, his thumb tracing the line of her knuckles. "They thought they could bury the truth under fake names, manipulated memories, and psychological cages."

He looked deep into her eyes, his voice dropping to a vow that resonated through the quiet room. "They forgot that blood remembers. And so do I."
