Chapter 16 - THE GATES OF LONG ISLANDHook: The infiltration begins under the cover of a coastal storm, but a tripped silent alarm threatens to blow their cover before they even reach the doors.

The black armored SUVs rolled silently along the coastal access road, their headlights switched off, relying entirely on thermal night-vision optics.

The storm raged overhead, thick clouds swallowing the moonlight and casting the Long Island estate into deep, impenetrable shadows.

The convoy stopped half a mile from the iron gates. Adrien, Marco, Lena, and a six-man tactical squad stepped out into the biting wind and driving rain.

"Comm-links active," Marco murmured, tapping his collarbone mic. "Northern relay is in our sights. We have three minutes before the patrol rotation loops back."

Adrien checked the magazine of his suppressed rifle, his eyes fixed on the towering stone walls of the estate. "Move out."

They scaled the perimeter wall with silent, practiced efficiency, dropping onto the manicured lawns of the mansion grounds. The sprawling estate was eerily quiet, save for the howling wind and the crashing waves against the cliffside below.

They reached the side terrace without incident. Marco moved toward the exterior electrical box, ready to slice the power grid, when suddenly—

BEEP.

A high-pitched digital tone echoed softly from the security keypad beside the glass sliding doors.

"Damn it," Marco hissed under his breath. "They upgraded the biometric grid to a dual-authentication pulse lock. My bypass kit won't work on this frequency."

Adrien stepped up, raising his rifle. "We blast the hinges—"

"Wait," Lena interrupted, stepping past Adrien. She stared at the glowing blue keypad. The interface design, the specific sequence of secondary backup prompts... it was identical to the security system her father had installed in their old family home before it was destroyed.

"My father designed this prototype twenty-five years ago," Lena whispered, her fingers hovering over the glass touchpads. "He used a mathematical rhythm based on prime numbers and classical music intervals."

She closed her eyes, breathing in sync with the howling wind. Then, her fingers danced across the keypad with lightning speed—one, two, three specific sequences, followed by a long press on the center corner.

Click.

The heavy steel locking mechanism disengaged instantly. The glass doors slid open with a soft, pneumatic hiss.

Marco stared at her in absolute awe. "Remind me never to play chess with you, Boss."

Adrien smiled, a dark, dangerous curve of his lips, as he gently pulled Lena behind him and stepped across the threshold into the lion's den.
