Chapter 8 - THE DIGITAL WARHook: With seconds remaining on the clock, Lena must type a code she hasn't seen in fifteen years while Adrien holds off an incoming army.

Lena slammed her fingers onto the mechanical keyboard of Adrien’s encrypted terminal. Green code scrolled endlessly across the three giant monitors surrounding the room.
Transfer in progress: 96%... 97%...
"Hurry, Lena," Adrien warned, his eyes locked on the elevator shaft indicators at the end of the hallway. The floor numbers were lighting up sequentially. 38... 39... 40. "Our friends from the Bratva just bypassed the lobby security."
"I'm trying! The cipher is dynamic!" Lena’s hands shook, a bead of sweat rolling down her temple. The numbers on the screen blurred together. Her mind flashed back to her childhood home, the smell of rain, her mother's soft voice reciting a sequence of prime numbers.
98%...
"Lena," Adrien said, drawing his sidearm and stepping backward toward the threshold, positioning himself as a human shield in the narrow corridor. "Three seconds."
"Done!"
Lena slammed the Enter key with the palm of her hand.
On screen, the red progress bar flashed violently, turned bright emerald green, and spat out a single word: ABORTED.
Simultaneously, a series of deafening explosions echoed from the ground floor. The firewall security protocols locked down every steel blast door in The Velvet Crown, sealing the perimeter and trapping the invading hit squad in the reinforced stairwells.
Marco let out a long breath, lowering his weapon slightly. "Well, that'll slow them down for about ten minutes."
Adrien didn't lower his gun. He walked back into the study, looking down at Lena. Her chest heaved, her face pale, but her eyes blazed with an unyielding fire that commanded absolute respect.
He reached out, gently taking her face in his large, scarred hand.

"You didn't just save my empire, Lena," Adrien said, his voice dropping all its usual armor, revealing a raw, profound vulnerability. "You just reclaimed your own name."
Lena looked up at him, the terror of the past twenty-four hours finally melting into something warm, dangerous, and utterly undeniable. "I'm not running anymore, Adrien."
