Chapter 11 - The Poison Pill

Walking into the top-floor executive suite as Halcyon’s new Chief Executive of Operations felt like stepping into a war zone. The three corrupt board members I had threatened—Vice Chairman Hayes, Director Vance Jr., and Chief Auditor Sterling—were already inside, frantically conspiring. They had initiated a "poison pill" clause, attempting to flood the market with cheap stock to dilute my voting power and force a buyout by an outside firm.
I walked to the head of the boardroom table, dropping a stack of legal injunctions onto the polished wood.
"Gentlemen," I said, my voice echoing in the dead silence. "Those share issuances have been frozen by federal order. Under the Corporate Sabotage and Treason Act, your personal holdings in Halcyon Dynamics are seized pending investigation."

Hayes slammed his fist on the table. "You think you can play god here, Elena? Richard was a pawn! You have no idea who is actually backing this play!"
"I don't need to guess," I replied softly. "I know."
