I didn't panic. I booked a private jet to Miami.
If Richard was backed by Victor Sterling, then his weak link wasn't in the boardroom—it was in the penthouse apartment Richard had bought for his mistress, Sarah Jenkins.
I arrived at Sarah’s luxury high-rise at midnight with two federal marshals. When Sarah opened the door, her face went white. She tried to slam it, but I caught the frame with my hand.
"Sarah," I said calmly, stepping inside. "Richard is out on bail, and Victor Sterling is using him to cover up an illegal military tech transfer. When the DOJ steps in, anyone associated with Richard's private accounts will face twenty years for treason. You have thirty seconds to give me what he hid in this apartment."

Sarah broke down sobbing. She walked over to a floor safe behind a mirror and pulled out an encrypted satellite drive.
"He told me it was just tax evasion software," Sarah wept. "I didn't know it was defense blueprints!"
