Chapter 14 - Flight to ZurichForty-eight hours later, I boarded a private Gulfstream jet bound for Switzerland. The transition from a modest hospital nurse to a global corporate titan still felt surreal, but every mile across the Atlantic hardened my resolve. Thomas had given his entire life to this war, and I was going to finish it.

Landing in Zurich under a blanket of freezing autumn fog, I was met at the tarmac by a discreet liaison sent by Mr. Harrison—a sharp-suited Swiss banker named Mateo Weber.
"Welcome to Switzerland, Mrs. Vance," Mr. Weber greeted me, bowing slightly as he ushered me into the back of an armored Mercedes. "The Swiss Federal Bank is expecting you. However, I must warn you—the Meridian Group knows you left the country. Their European operatives have been tracking your flight path."
"Let them track," I replied, staring out the window at the snow-capped Alps. "They think I'm a helpless old widow wandering into a foreign country. They don't realize I've spent my whole life cleaning up messes much worse than this."

When we arrived at the imposing granite fortress of the bank, we bypassed the public lobby and descended three subterranean levels into the high-security vault.
Mr. Weber inserted his master key alongside my emerald-encrusted key into the massive titanium door of Box 714. With a deep, pneumatic hiss, the heavy door swung open.
