Chapter 10 - Dawn of a New EraThe morning sun broke over the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow across the quiet suburban neighborhood.

Inside the house, the atmosphere was entirely different. The oppressive shadow that had hung over the halls for two long years had finally been lifted. The air felt lighter, cleaner, breathable.
Nathan stood in the kitchen, flipping pancakes on the skillet, while the sweet, familiar smell of maple syrup filled the air.
Maya and Leo sat at the kitchen island, laughing as they built a towering fort out of cereal boxes. There were no dark shadows in their eyes today; the terror of the previous evening had melted away, replaced by the innocent resilience of childhood.
Maya hopped down from her stool, walked over to Nathan, and wrapped her small arms tightly around his waist, burying her face in his apron.
"Dad?" she murmured.
"Yeah, sweetie?" Nathan asked softly, turning down the stove and kneeling to look her in the eye.
"Are we going to be okay now?"
May you like
Nathan smiled, a genuine, unburdened smile that reached all the way to his eyes. He reached up, gently brushing a stray lock of hair from her forehead.
"We are more than okay, Maya," Nathan said, his voice firm and filled with a profound, unbreakable peace. "Mom is resting easy now. And nobody will ever, ever hurt this family again."
