Chapter 20 - A New DawnSix months later, the house at the end of the suburban cul-de-sac looked entirely different. Fresh white paint gleamed in the afternoon sun, the front lawn was vibrant green, and the children’s laughter echoed from the backyard where a new wooden swing set stood proudly under the oak tree.

Nathan stood on the back porch, holding a steaming mug of coffee, watching Maya and Leo chase each other through the sprinklers.

The trauma of the past had left scars, but scars were proof of survival. They were living proof that no matter how deep someone tries to bury the truth, the light always finds a way to break through.

A gentle breeze blew across the yard, rustling the wind chimes hanging from the porch ceiling. Nathan looked up at the sky, smiling warmly.
