Chapter 3 - The Ghost of Montgomery

Julian didn't hesitate. He pulled a syringe from his pocket, injected a clear liquid into Evelyn’s IV line, and dragged her off the bed, ducking behind the heavy curtains just as the door swung open.
Daniel stepped inside, followed by a doctor wearing a surgical mask.
"Make it quick, Dr. Evans," Daniel said coldly, checking his gold watch. "The press conference ends in ten minutes. I need to be crying at her bedside when the heart monitor goes flat."
"Understood, Mr. Vance," the doctor said, advancing toward the empty bed. He froze. The sheets were disheveled, and the heart monitor was humming softly, attached to an IV bag that was dripping onto the floor.
"Where is she?!" Daniel roared, his polished demeanor shattering instantly.
From behind the curtain, Julian moved like a predator. He stepped out, driving a heavy silver pen straight into Dr. Evans’ neck. The doctor collapsed without a sound. Before Daniel could react or scream, Julian grabbed Daniel by the throat, slamming him hard against the wall.
"Hello, little brother," Julian whispered maliciously.
Daniel gasped for air, his eyes wide with recognition and terror. "Julian?! You're... you're dead! You disappeared in Singapore!"
"I came back for my cut," Julian sneered. "And to make sure you don't get a single dime of the Montgomery estate."
Evelyn watched from the shadows, terrified. She realized she hadn't been saved by a hero—she was caught in a crossfire between two monsters.

Julian pulled a muffled taser from his coat, pressed it into Daniel’s side, and pulled the trigger. Daniel dropped to the floor, convulsing violently before passing out.
"Get up, Evelyn," Julian commanded, handing her a coat. "If you want your baby to live past tonight, you follow me."
