Chapter 6 - The Uninvited Guest

The Vance Manor was glittering with crystal chandeliers, champagne fountains, and hundreds of high-society elites. Beatrice Vance stood in the center of the ballroom, dressed in black silk, wiping away fake tears as she accepted condolences from politicians and billionaires.
Daniel stood beside her, sipping scotch, posing as the grieving husband who had lost his wife.
"To Evelyn," Daniel said dramatically, raising his glass to the crowd. "May her troubled soul finally find peace."
Suddenly, the grand lights in the ballroom flickered and died.
The heavy oak doors of the ballroom slammed open. The massive digital screens surrounding the stage glitched, and a high-definition video feed began to play.
It was the security footage from the rooftop three weeks ago.
The entire room watched in horror as the video clearly showed Beatrice pushing Evelyn, Martha holding onto her wrist, and Daniel walking out with a knife to cut the rope. Daniel’s voice echoed through the high-end speakers: "That baby can't live."
Gasps of utter shock erupted across the ballroom. Guests dropped their glasses. Reporters immediately pointed their cameras at the screen, live-streaming the footage to millions of viewers worldwide.
Beatrice’s face drained of all color. "Turn it off! TURN IT OFF!" she screamed frantically at the staff.

"It's too late, Mother," a voice echoed through the room.
The spotlight shone on the upper balcony of the ballroom. Standing there, draped in a blood-red dress, was Evelyn—alive, radiant, and undeniably pregnant. Beside her stood Julian, holding a detonator-like remote device.
