Chapter 7 - The Final Confrontation

Chaos broke out. Security guards rushed toward the balcony, but Julian’s hired men intercepted them. The wealthy guests scrambled for the exits, but the doors had been locked from the outside.

Daniel, panicked and humiliated, pulled a concealed firearm from his jacket and pointed it up at the balcony.

"You should have stayed dead!" Daniel screamed, his face contorted in rage. "You ruined everything!"

"Lower the gun, Daniel!" Evelyn shouted down, her voice steady and full of cold authority. "The entire city is watching. The police are already surrounding the gates!"

"I don't care!" Daniel pulled the trigger.

BANG!

A bullet ricocheted off the brass railing near Evelyn’s feet. Julian immediately pushed Evelyn behind a pillar and returned fire, striking Daniel in the shoulder. Daniel fell backward onto the glass table, groaning in pain.

Beatrice rushed to her son, hyperventilating. "Daniel! My baby!"

Evelyn walked down the grand marble staircase, stepping over shattered glass, until she stood right in front of the bleeding Daniel and the terrified Beatrice.

"You took my father," Evelyn said, looking down at Beatrice. "You tried to take my life. And you tried to murder my child."

"Evelyn... please..." Daniel wheezed, holding his bloody shoulder. "I was forced... my mother made me do it! She planned it all!"

"Liar!" Beatrice shrieked, slapping her own son across the face. "You were the one who cut the rope! You wanted the money for your gambling debts!"

Evelyn pulled out her phone, showing them a live feed of the hospital. "Martha woke up two days ago. She signed a full confession to the FBI about the poisoning, the blackmail, and the rooftop murder attempt. It's over."

Sirens blared outside as federal agents smashed through the front glass doors, rifles raised.
