Chapter 2 - The Six-Hour BlueprintLet’s rewind to 2:00 PM that afternoon.

The sun was streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows of Northstar’s Manhattan offices. Lucas Vance—a man who smelled faintly of old money and espresso, and who didn't suffer fools or inflated balance sheets—was skimming through a dense stack of forensic accounting reports I had slid across his mahogany desk.
"Are you certain about these figures, Ms. Cole?" Lucas asked, his sharp gray eyes lifting to meet mine. "Because if these ledger anomalies are accurate, Meridian's valuation is inflated by at least forty percent."
"They're accurate down to the penny, Mr. Vance," I replied, keeping my voice steady. "My father founded the intellectual property underlying Meridian’s core software. When Ethan and I married, I signed over operational control, but I never relinquished my rights as a primary stakeholder and patent holder. For the past six months, Ethan has been systematically fundling R&D funds into a shell company registered under Madison Blake’s maiden name."
Lucas whistled softly, leaning back in his leather chair. "A classic asset-stripping maneuver disguised as growth capital. And he thinks we're signing the term sheet tonight at the gala."

"He's counting on it," I said, sliding a final document across the table—a formal injunction notice prepared by my family’s corporate legal team, backed by my 51% controlling veto power as the original patent holder. "He thinks I’m a stay-at-home spouse who lost her edge. He thinks tonight is his coronation."
Lucas picked up a sleek fountain pen, tapping it rhythmically against the edge of the desk. A slow, predatory smile spread across his face. "Oh, it’s going to be a coronation, all right. Just not the one Mr. Cole is expecting. We’ll attend the dinner. We’ll let him get all the way to the toast. And then... we drop the hammer."
