Chapter 29 - The Next GenerationTen years later.

The Ristorante Bellagio was long gone, replaced by a high-end cultural center in the heart of the city, but the legacy of the Moretti name was stronger, cleaner, and more enduring than it had ever been in its history.
Inside the grand library of the estate, a ten-year-old boy with bright, intelligent eyes and soft fair hair was sitting cross-legged on the Persian rug, aggressively building a complex Lego fortress while a younger, curly-haired girl chased a golden retriever puppy around the oak desk.
I stood by the doorway, holding a tray of fresh cookies, watching the chaotic, beautiful scene with a soft smile.
"Lukas, leave the tactical defense walls alone, or your sister is going to use the puppy to breach your front gate," I warned playfully.
Lukas looked up, flashing a grin that featured the exact same confident spark as his father's. "Mom! Dad said a true Moretti fortification can withstand a canine assault!"
"Your father fills your head with entirely too much mafia nonsense," I laughed, setting the tray down on the table as Dante walked into the room, wearing a comfortable cashmere sweater, his silver-streaked hair making him look even more distinguished than before.
Dante walked up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and pressing a soft kiss to the side of my neck. The dragon tattoo on his hand had faded slightly with age, but the strength in his grip was as absolute and unwavering as the day I met him.
"Nonsense? I'm teaching him essential life skills," Dante teased, raising an eyebrow at our son. "Isn't that right, captain?"
"Yes, Dad!" Lukas cheered, grabbing a cookie.
I turned around in Dante’s arms, wrapping my arms around his neck, looking up into the eyes that had once terrified me, and which now felt like the only safe harbor in the world.

"You're incorrigible," I whispered affectionately.
"And you love every minute of it," Dante replied, his lips curving into that familiar, breathtaking smile—complete with the faint dimple at the corner of his mouth.
