Chapter 39 - The Final PiecesBack at the Moretti estate, the tension in the grand library felt like a physical weight lifting off our shoulders.

The Ouroboros network had been completely purged, its servers wiped clean by our cyber division, and its remaining leaders rounded up by federal authorities under anonymous Moretti tips.

Kira sat on the sofa, sipping a cup of tea, looking less like a hardened operative and more like a younger sister finding her place in a world she never knew she belonged to.

"You're welcome to stay here, you know," I said softly, walking over and placing a fresh plate of pastries on the table. "This house is big enough for another Moretti."

Kira looked up, a small, genuine smile—complete with the family dimple—breaking across her face. "I think I'd like that, Mara. For a long time, I thought I was just a weapon meant for someone else's war. It's nice to finally have a home."

Dante walked into the library, slipping his arm around my waist, pulling me close against his side. He looked at Kira, then down at me, a profound, unshakable peace resting in his dark eyes.

"The empire is safe," Dante murmured. "And this time, there are no ghosts left hiding in the dark."
