On a sunny Saturday afternoon, I hosted a housewarming and celebratory dinner party in the grand dining room.
The long mahogany table was draped in crisp white linen, adorned with fresh white dahlias and flickering candles. The roasted lemon-rosemary chicken steamed beneath the chandelier, filling the air with the exact same aromatic herbs from that fateful anniversary dinner eleven years ago.

Lily raised her sparkling cider glass in a toast. "To Mom—the strongest, bravest woman in the world!"
