Chapter 20 - Queen of Her Own WorldSix months after the courthouse ruling, the autumn leaves were falling once again, marking a full year since the night my old life burned to the ground.

I stood on the expansive marble balcony of my newly expanded estate, watching Lily and Noah race across the sunlit lawn, their laughter echoing into the crisp afternoon air. My graphic design firm had merged with my father's original tech holdings, positioning me at the helm of a thriving, multi-million-dollar enterprise that I managed on my own terms, surrounded by people who loved and respected me.
Daniel was serving his fifteen-year federal sentence in a maximum-security facility three states away, completely forgotten by the high-society circles he had tried so desperately to climb into. Margaret and Vivian were living in obscurity, shadows of the arrogant tyrants they once were.
My phone chimed on the patio table beside me. I picked it up, expecting a business email, but instead found a personal message from Julian Vance containing a scanned photo of my father smiling in his old garden, holding me as a baby.
I smiled, a single tear of profound gratitude slipping down my cheek.
I traced the screen with my thumb, then locked my phone and set it aside. Stepping back inside the house, I walked into the grand dining room where a long table was set with fresh white dahlias, gleaming silverware, and a steaming roasted lemon-rosemary chicken.
Lily peeked around the corner, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Mommy, is dinner ready?"
I walked to the head of the table, pulled out the grand center chair, sat down, and calmly served myself first.

I looked at my children, my home, and my future, knowing with absolute certainty that I would never, ever forget my place again.
Because my place was right here—unshakable, undefeated, and ruling my own world.
