Chapter 19 - The Ultimate JusticeTwo weeks after Julian’s shocking revelation, the formal probate court hearing took place in the grand downtown municipal courthouse.

The courtroom was packed with reporters, financial analysts, and legal experts eager to witness the final chapter of the Mercer-Sterling scandal. Sitting at the defense table, looking utterly defeated in his prison orange jumpsuit brought in under armed guard, was Daniel. Across the aisle sat Margaret, whose remaining assets had been completely liquidated to pay off her mounting legal debts.

I walked into the courtroom wearing a tailored white suit, my head held high, flanked by Marcus Vance and Julian Vance. The contrast between the woman who had fled her own anniversary dinner in tears months ago and the woman standing before the judge today was absolute.

"Case number 8842: Estate Restitution and Corporate Consolidation of Apex Holdings versus Daniel Mercer and Margaret Mercer," the judge announced, adjusting his glasses. "The court has reviewed the newly authenticated irrevocable trust documents presented by legal counsel."

The judge looked up from his papers, his gaze sweeping across the courtroom.

"It is the final ruling of this court that all remaining hidden assets, commercial real estate portfolios, and intellectual property rights belonging to the late estate are hereby awarded in full, unencumbered ownership to Claire Mercer—now sole proprietor of Apex Holdings."

Gavel banged.

A murmur rippled through the gallery of reporters as cameras flashed furiously.

Daniel buried his face in his cuffed hands, his shoulders shaking with silent, impotent tears. Margaret let out a muffled sob, finally realizing that her lifetime of manipulation and greed had resulted in absolute, irreversible ruin.

Marcus turned to me, offering a warm, proud smile. "Congratulations, Claire. You didn't just beat them. You inherited the kingdom they tried to steal."
