Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Revenge

An hour later, the sleek private elevator chimed, and two armed guards escorted a sweating, terrified-looking man into the underground medical suite. It was Dr. Sterling, the very chief of surgery at Johns Hopkins who had signed Arya’s wrongful termination papers three years ago.

Dr. Sterling stepped into the immaculate lab, straightening his expensive tie, expecting to meet a criminal overlord. Instead, he stopped dead in his tracks as a woman in a crisp white lab coat turned around from the surgical counter, her arms crossed over her chest.

"A-Arya?" Sterling stammered, his face turning the color of skim milk. "You... you're the Marchetti medical director?"

"Surprise, Doctor," Arya said, her voice dripping with lethal sweetness. "Welcome to my clinic."

"Look, Arya—Dr. Vance," Sterling stammered, frantically waving his hands. "There was a misunderstanding back in Baltimore. The board was pressured, we had to protect the hospital's reputation—"

"Save your breath," Arya interrupted, walking slowly toward him until she was standing just inches away. She pulled out a pristine, gold-embossed document from her pocket and dropped it onto the stainless-steel table in front of him. "Sign that."

Sterling picked up the paper with trembling fingers. It was an unconditional confession admitting that the board fabricated the malpractice charges against her, alongside a complete transfer of Johns Hopkins' pediatric research endowment to the Marchetti Foundation.

"If I don't sign?" Sterling whispered, his voice shaking.

"Then you get to experience the exact same airway collapse that baby Leo survived," Rocco chimed in from the shadows of the room, slowly spinning a surgical scalpel between his fingers. "And let me tell you—our lead surgeon is much less gentle with enemies than she is with babies."

Sterling didn't hesitate for another second. He grabbed a pen and signed his name so hard the nib tore through the paper.
