Chapter 18 - The Unraveling

I told him about Marcus. I told him about the months of psychological torture, the night Brenda threw my newborn onto the bed, the physical assault, the illegal DNA swab, and the grand, cosmic collapse of Brenda’s lies in the courtroom.
Julian listened in absolute, chilling silence. He didn't interrupt once. When I finished, he looked down at the infant sleeping peacefully in the stroller, a complex storm of emotions playing across his face—anger, sorrow, and a strange, profound sense of closure.
"So... I have a brother," Julian murmured, staring blankly at the table. "A brother who was raised by the very monster who tore us apart."
"He's currently in an inpatient facility," I said quietly. "He lost everything because he let her pull the strings. But you... you survived. You made something incredible out of your life despite what she tried to bury."

Julian looked up, meeting my eyes with a steady, unbreakable gaze.
"Thank you for telling me, Elena," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "And more importantly... thank you for protecting your son from her. You broke the cycle."
