Chapter 3 - The Ghost from the PastDawn broke over Chicago, casting a cold, gray light across Lake Michigan. Inside the subterranean war room of the Moretti estate, Adrian sat at the head of a massive stainless-steel conference table. Surrounding him were his most trusted loyalists: Daniel, his head of security; Marcus, his chief financial strategist; and Dr. Michael.

"The federal indictment Kane was preparing to drop on us isn't based on drugs or weapons," Marcus reported, throwing digital files onto the central holographic display. "It’s structured around a shell corporation registered in the Cayman Islands called Aegis Holdings. Look at the primary beneficiary signature."
Adrian zoomed in on the document. His eyes narrowed.
The signature wasn't Victor Kane’s. It belonged to Elena Moretti—Adrian’s estranged older sister, who had supposedly died in a plane crash over the Atlantic twenty-five years ago, wiped from the family registry by their tyrannical father.
"Elena..." Adrian murmured, the word tasting like ash in his mouth. "She's alive?"

"Not only is she alive," Daniel added grimly, stepping forward. "She’s Victor Kane’s silent partner. They’ve been building a shadow empire to dismantle the Moretti syndicate from the inside out, using Claire’s stolen archives as the final piece of the puzzle."
Adrian stood up slowly. The betrayal cut deeper than a knife. His own flesh and blood had returned from the dead not to reconcile, but to orchestrate his absolute annihilation.
