Chapter 4 - The Safe House BreachWhile Adrian plotted his counter-offensive, a sleek black armored van bypassed the city’s outer expressway tolls, heading directly toward a secure safe house on the outskirts of Oak Park where Claire and Lily had been temporarily relocated under heavy guard.

Inside the van, Victor Kane adjusted his silk tie, staring coldly at his tablet screen.

"The Moretti hound thinks he’s locked down his estate," Victor muttered to his lead mercenary, a scarred ex-spec ops operative named Miller. "He doesn't realize the maid kept a master backup drive of the Aegis files in her locket. Take the house. Secure the girl. And eliminate anyone who gets in your way."

At 10:15 AM, the security alarms at the Oak Park safe house shrieked.

Four Moretti guards stationed outside the perimeter monitors suddenly slumped over, their coffee laced with a fast-acting paralytic. Heavy combat boots stomped up the wooden front porch steps.
