Chapter 18 - The Coronation Six months later, the great hall of the Vatello estate was filled with the most powerful figures in the Midwest—governors, federal judges, international syndicate bosses, and regional capos who had flown in from across the globe to pay homage to the new era of the Vatello dynasty.

The heavy iron gates were lined with armed guards, but the atmosphere inside was not one of fear; it was one of absolute, unquestioned sovereignty.

At the center of the grand ballroom, standing beside Dante on the elevated dais, was an eight-year-old boy dressed in a tailored charcoal suit that matched his father's down to the last detail. His dark, depthless eyes swept over the crowded room of powerful men and women who bowed their heads in respectful silence as the father and son approached the podium.

Dante placed a heavy, grounding hand on Leo’s shoulder, stepping up to the microphone.

"A hundred years ago, my grandfather built this empire on the belief that strength is the only currency that matters," Dante’s deep, resonant voice echoed through the soaring marble hall. "Years ago, enemies within and without tried to ensure that our bloodline would end in silence and obscurity. They thought they could break the foundation of the house from within."

He paused, his gaze sweeping over the silent, attentive crowd.

"They were mistaken. The Vatello line does not end. It evolves."

He looked down at Leo, handing him the ceremonial gold signet ring of the syndicate—a heavy heirloom passed down through generations of Vatello kings. Leo took it with a steady, unshakeable grip and slid it onto his right index finger, where it fit with surprising, perfect precision.

The entire hall erupted into a thunderous, deafening applause that shook the chandeliers overhead.
