Chapter 24 - The Lake Geneva Trap The moonlight glinted off the frozen expanse of Lake Geneva, illuminating a sprawling, ultra-modern glass mansion nestled deep within private pine forests across the Wisconsin border. A convoy of three matte-black armored SUVs slipped silently through the wrought-iron security gates, their tires crunching softly against the plowed snow.

Dante stepped out into the freezing night air, his charcoal coat pulled tight against his chest. Behind him, twenty elite enforcers fanned out, disappearing into the shadows of the pine trees like ghosts.
They weren't looking for a firefight. They were looking for the digital core where Arthur Sterling kept his leverage over the entire Midwest commission.
Inside the mansion’s subterranean panic room, Judge Arthur Sterling sat behind a glass mahogany desk, swirling a glass of forty-year-old bourbon as alarms began to softly chime across his private terminal network. He didn't look panicked. He looked like a man who had anticipated this exact chess move for ten years.
The heavy steel security door of the panic room didn't need to be blown open; it hissed and unlocked automatically, swinging wide to reveal Dante Vatello standing in the doorway with a suppressed Sig Sauer held casually at his side.
"Dante," Sterling smiled smoothly, taking a slow sip of his bourbon. "I wondered when you'd finally crawl out of your Chicago fortress to check on your federal oversight."
Dante walked slowly into the room, his boots clicking against the pristine white marble. He didn't raise his weapon. He simply pulled up a chair opposite the judge and sat down.

"You built an empire on paper, Arthur," Dante said softly, his voice cutting through the silent room like a razor. "You thought you could sterilize my bloodline and manage the syndicate like a portfolio of stocks."
"And I almost succeeded," Sterling replied, his smile fading into a hard, calculating glare. "Until a street brat kicked your money into a gutter and ruined a decade of careful planning."
